reprise

the scarf is being reprised -some creative language use!- three or four times.
pumping the red that was lost in the aizome vat, using my beloved botan brushes from japan.
they are expensive but do the job of painting backgrounds beautifully as they were  meant for that.
i love all the combined processes each one adding up to the previous. it's slow and fun.
the scarf will have to cure for a while.

while people are doing less

more is more
is more i am doing more is more unintentionally. sat down enjoying a nice sunny day with a cool breeze, tending my vat and keeping my hands busy following the old adage idle hands etc, etc.
was having a relaxed go and couldn't stop. now pray thee tell how can i od on stitching and still be working on the zen series? scary isn't it?

harvesting time

this summer crop: all shades of blue and then some more that didn't get to the photo call.
still waiting to call aizome done. if it keeps warm and doesn't rain maybe i can get one more week's worth of dyeing.
it has taken many, many summers to get to the stage i am in now but, i feel that finally oh finally i am in command of the vat, not the other way around. i have even started to push it as when i scraped the bottom of last year's vat to use the solidified indigo. talk about 勿体無い    mottainai!

on the mottainai subject i am piecing together all those ai dyed samples and making a cover. the center is already pieced and the sides are slowly growing.
